CSOS Connect is a free and secure online service providing a digital platform to support the CSOS community schemes in South Africa to conveniently register their schemes, submit their governance documentation, submit their annual returns, declarations and pay electronically.

The CSOS core mandate is to regulate community schemes which entails assuming the oversight of compliance within schemes by registering all community schemes and reviewing their governance documentation. This in turn will provide a fast and reliable Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism for all disputes arising within community schemes. Further, our mandate is to ensure sound governance within community schemes by providing training and awareness to all identified stakeholders.

This service aims to automate and create convenience to scheme management bringing a world class service to schemes making it easy to achieve and maintain their compliance.

This free service allows for scheme executives, owners, tenants, trustees and managing agents to register and begin administering their scheme and furthermore perform a number of other interactions with CSOS in the secure online environment

To get the better understanding of the compititor landscape, I conducted analysis on tw of the most popular Ombuds apps on the market and I found that while both provided a wealth of information they were not realy compiting with CSOS since CSOS is a government project that all estate must abide to.

CSOS need a better way to collect revenue, understand the all schemes registered in South Africa and to replace their paper based system

Final Product

After many tests and iterations, my final product aligned with all the objections I had set in place - it includes core feateres neccessary for users to find quick and easy ways to register, login, register their schemes and get their schemes certificated while knowing if their schemes are Compliant or not. Its also helps user to log their querie and also to report non-complience and to request for their schemes documents when they need them. The most important about all the above is that user will do all of this with ease.

Challenges

My biggest challenge was data visualisation for my app overviews from the dashboard. My usability test provided that the entire dashboard was too busy because I had a lot of information to help my users to navigate app. I spent a lot of time ommiting iterations that would confuse users and that helped the with the display of other important elements.

What can be improved

I only use Figma for this project, everythig from my wireframes to prototypes and icons. I would like to expend next time and use Adobe XD.

Working on this project completely solo opened my eyes to value team work. Yes team can mean more responsibility but it also coms with the ability to develop ideas together. Everyone has different experiences and knowledge which produces incredible designs.

What is next on this project

I am working on another complex part of the app which is disputes and all is well.
